The second cottage down from West Gulf Boulevard on 79th avenue is the Blue Lagoon (previously named Vino). Nestled between The Cabana Cottage and The Coral Lee, this location provides direct access to the courtyard and is a quick stroll to the beach.
The Blue Lagoon Cottage
The Blue Lagoon Cottage is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom beach bungalow with a living room and a kitchen. There are two private entrances, one along 79th avenue (pictured above), and the other through a bamboo gate within the courtyard with access to an outdoor shower (below).
In the living room, there is a mounted TV with a swivel feature so you can watch your favorite shows from the comfort of the sofa or dining area. Seating in this space includes two dining benches, a low curved chair, and a futon that doubles as a full size bed. The lightweight acrylic waterfall table and Mid Century style wooden coffee table can easily be moved for convenience.
The kitchen area features a corner table with benches to use as a dining table or tabletop workspace. We upgraded our wifi and many guests like to #wfh (work from hotel.) Cabinets are stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans. Appliances include a full sized retro refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, blender, and remote controlled air conditioning. We recommend swinging by the Treasure Island Publix on the way to Sunset to pick up your vacation groceries or having them delivered via Instacart. (Click the link to check hours.)
The bedroom has windows parallel to eachother, looking out to the courtyard and 79th Ave, respectively. The bed offers a new hybrid mattresses (pillow top coil with memory foam) and all white, fresh clean bedding. To the left of the bed is an acrylic work desk/vanity, and to the right is a honeycomb patterned dresser for clothes (a small closet is located at the end of the bed). Additional storage space is located in the hallway between rooms. The lighting options include an overhead fan combo, a task light next to the bed, and a beautiful, blue ambient table lamp on the dresser. For privacy and restful sleep, windows are dressed in blinds and room darkening curtains.
We thoughtfully selected every item you see in each room at Sunset Inn & Cottages. Our walls host original art and there are vintage or modern retro accessories throughout the property. The design of the Blue Lagoon’s cottage mural was inspired by Disney’s vintage mermaid lagoon, adding to the nostalgia.
The back of the Blue Lagoon is to the right of The Captain Cottage. Notice it by the rich blue hue and bright orange trim - closer up, you’ll notice a mini mural with another vintage-inspired illustrated mermaid. This little pointer will help keep you oriented as you make your way around the property. Two modern lounge chaises rest under a yellow and white striped umbrella as the perfect welcoming beach scene when you walk up to your cottage.
