This Barrier Island runs along the Gulf of Mexico, welcoming you to it’s white sandy shores and bright blue waters. Perfect views and stellar beach access are just the start of everything you can do while staying in the heart of Treasure Island. While only a short drive from bustling Downtown St. Petersburg and artsy Gulf Port, there’s plenty to do within biking distance along Treasure Island itself!
So lather up with some sunscreen and prepare your next trip exploring the island! To make the search more convenient, we’ve provided a list of our favorite activities below:
1. A Day on the Beach
The most obvious reason to visit the beach is of course, the ocean itself! We offer our guests a package with beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and sand toys - everything you might need to kick back and relax all day.
2. The Thrill Seeker
For the more adventurous of heart, surfboard and paddleboard rentals are available right across the street from the main office. Fly high in the sky with rentals from Parasailing the Pass, or sight see on your own with a rental from Treasure Island.
3. Shop Local!
For a family-friendly touristy endeavor, shop the iconic tourist attractions at John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk. The Pass is a great place to plan an evening out shopping, dining, and dolphin site-seeing! Hit up Surf Style for beach gear, surfer-tees, cooler boxes, and other classic beach accoutrements. Plan a brunch out and about, stopping through the Friday Morning Market for local food, vendors, and handcrafted artisan booths.
4. Eat Local!
To all the foodies out there, Treasure Island is the place to be! The freshest seafood, live entertainment, and beach front dining are some of the many things you’ll find easily accessible on the island. Ocean view dining options are abundant: local eateries are all within walking/biking distance or are a short drive away.
Caddy’s is a beachside bar & grill that is walkable from Sunset Beach across the street from our property (or sidewalks parallel to it). Seasonally, they even host themed events, parties, and even beachfront silent discos! Neighboring Caddy’s is Ka’Tiki, the locals' favorite place to grab a chilled beer and enjoy live music, scheduled every night of the week!
Casual, quick places to grab a bite around town include The Floridian (authentic Cuban cuisine) and Taco Bus (within walking distance, a Mexican Street-Style food joint). A short drive’s away is La Casa Del Pan, a Sicilian/Southern Italian Pizzeria & Grocery.
For those in need of a sweet-tooth fix, Tootsie’s Sugar Shop is nearby, just a six minute drive up the way on Gulf Boulevard.
5. Beer & Breweries
For the craft-beer aficionado, Mastry’s is the first brewery/tasting room on St. Pete’s Beach. There you can enjoy craftsman beer in their shaded courtyards, order food from their on-location food truck, and enjoy various yard activities (like giant Jenga). Pull up to Sea Dog Brewery from the dockside (or street side) and enjoy local brews, patio/in-house dining, and a plethora of yard games on the lower level.
6. Corey Avenue Market
Spend your Sunday morning with a plan for brunch and the outdoor market! Shop booths from local vendors, farmers, tradesmen, and artisans. The market runs year round, Sundays from 9am-1pm. Hours may vary seasonally.
7. Wind down with Yoga on the Beach
Enjoy the serene views and ocean breeze as you participate in a FREE yoga class at Caddy’s. Bring your mat, blanket, or towel to these free intermediate yoga sessions, and enjoy a class-exclusive 10% off on your meal afterwards! Yoga on the beach is offered 9am Tuesdays & Thursdays, and a sunset class is offered 7pm on Fridays (weather permitting).
8. Weddings at Sunset Beach
Plan your perfect day at the perfect location, on Sunset Beach! Directly across from our property is the Sunset Beach Pavilion, which is available for rent - this includes an intimate ceremony spot on the ocean shore along with the covered deck for the wedding reception. When you book with us for your special weekend, ask about room blocks!
9. Sea Shells by the Sea Shore
Take a piece of Old Florida home with you. The Florida Shell Shop is a family run souvenir shop that sells… shells!! Seriously, if there was ever a shell you dreamed of collecting, this is the place to find it! Their sea shell collection is so impressive, you won’t be leaving empty handed!
10. Stay at Sunset Inn & Cottages
